The Pixel Watch is slated for a market release in the fall, and it looks like the styling options in the band are taking cues from the Apple Watch.
The Pixel Watch will finally hit shelves in the fall, and it looks like Google has taken a leaf out of the Apple Watch’s book when it comes to customization by offering a wide range of band style options to choose from. The Apple Watch is undoubtedly one of the most feature-rich smartwatches. However, Apple also made sure to make a fashion statement.
Take the Apple Watch Series 7, for example, which starts by letting buyers choose between three case materials: aluminum, stainless steel and titanium. There are 10 color options on the table and three types of strap materials (sports, leather, and stainless steel) in different styles to choose from. And then there are the three editions, aside from the luxury strap options from luxury brands like Hermès. In a nutshell, Apple has cracked the code when it comes to target demographics and the diversity of their fashion tastes.
It looks like Google wants to serve up the same level of aesthetic diversity with the highly anticipated Pixel Watch, which is slated for release later this year. According to a report by 9to5Google, the company experimented with no less than seven types of straps for its first smartwatch. Starting with the high-end offerings, one rocks a steel mesh design that mimics the look of Apple’s Milanese-style bands. Google’s metal chain version will come in black, gold, and silver to match the respective case colors. A link bracelet made of rectangular metal bricks is also in the works.

The smartwatch will also serve up the classic look of a leather strap that is a mainstay of exotic watches. Then there are fabric and stretch bands inspired by Apple’s solo braided loop. And of course, at the bottom of the price chart are the silicone-based bands which will come in multiple color options. All in all, Pixel Watch buyers will have six options to satisfy their smartwatch-style taste, which isn’t too shabby. Unlike the Apple Watch, Google’s I/O 2022 demo suggests these Pixel Watch bands will insert via a weird twist-and-slip mechanism.
Google hasn’t officially detailed the style options yet, and there’s always a chance that one – or more – of the group styles will end up on the design team’s cutting board. As for the rest of the package, tight Fitbit integration and a supercharged Google Assistant will greet buyers. Unfortunately, rumors claim that the Pixel Watch will be armed with a 4-year-old chip. While the usual set of fitness-centric features like heart rate and sleep tracking will be offered on the Pixel WatchGoogle hasn’t said anything about other advanced health tricks like electrocardiogram or blood pressure detection, both of which are available on Samsung smartwatches running the new and improved Wear OS avatar.
