Apple Watch Ultra hiking test in the Scottish Islands

The Apple Watch Ultra trek is put to the test all over the world. Now developer David Smith has a new experience to share. After a 3 day hike in the Scottish HighlandsDavid shares a lengthy video review filled with epic views.

David reviews Apple Watch Ultra from the perspective of a developer and an avid hiker and backpacker. The goal is not to determine whether the latest Apple Watch can replace a dive computer and an extreme sports watch.

In the 34-minute video, David takes the Apple Watch Ultra for a hike while sharing a performance preview of the new hardware.

I love this watch and can confidently say this is the best Apple Watch ever for hiking. The standard Apple Watches are pretty good, and probably good enough for most day hikes, but if you’ve ever felt limited by their screen, battery, or durability, you’ll be very happy with this upgrade. I also think it’s probably the best choice among everything sports watches for hiking for all but the most specialized needs (assuming you have an iPhone).

In the video, David includes plenty of views of the Apple Watch Ultra in use, an audio test with the new microphones, and some great battery life stats after the three-day trek. The video also compares the Apple Watch Ultra to the Series 7 for a better idea of how each performs.
