Apple Watch Series 6 has a flaw and the company fixes it for free

There’s no doubt that Apple Watch was one of the industry’s leading wearables that set new benchmarks for rival brands. The company, which has always marketed the smartwatch as a health-centric device instead of an extension of wrist-worn iPhones, introduces a new iteration of the watch every year. While last year it was the Apple Watch Series 7, later this year we got to see the Series 8 with some new features and possibly a new design. However, the version launched two years ago – Apple Watch Series 6 is in the news these days. This is because the laptop is facing a major flaw according to some users.

The Series 6 issue is with the screen of the device. According to some users (through 9to5Mac), the watch has a “white screen problem”. This often causes the display to go blank all the time. The detail of the problem and the reason behind the cause are not yet known. However, if the Apple Watch screen goes blank, leaving users with nothing to see, that’s definitely a pretty big issue for the company.

Assignment of a limited set of users

So, to address the issue, Apple on Friday announced a new service program for those Apple Watch Series 6 users. Under the program, affected users can request free repair through Apple or Authorized Service Providers (AASP ). As mentioned by Apple, the issue affects a very small percentage of users who specifically use the 40mm version of the watch. The “white screen issue” only affects 40mm watches manufactured between April and September 2021.

So how do you know if your Apple Watch Series 6 is affected by the problem or not? Apple indicates that it is possible to check if the device is eligible by entering the serial number on dedicated company website. If the website indicates that the watch needs to be repaired, the user must bring it to AASP. It is also mentioned that this worldwide Apple program does not extend the standard warranty coverage of your Apple Watch.
