After the iPhone 14, the Apple Watch Series 8 would now have satellite connectivity

Apple’s iPhone 14 was previously reported to have satellite connectivity, to allow users to send a message or make calls when there is no network. Now, it’s rumored that the next Apple Watch could also come with satellite connectivity.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who reports on Apple’s developments, the Apple Watch is also set to get satellite connectivity. In his “Power On” newsletter, Gurman said the Apple Watch would also get the feature, but said it could arrive this year or in 2023. “Whether on the iPhone or the Apple Watch, the technology would provide an alternative to the Garmin inReach Explorer and SPOT, handheld satellite communicators with similar functionality,” Gurman said in his newsletter.

Apple is rumored to be releasing three new Apple Watch models this year – a new SE variant, the Apple Watch Series 8, and a rugged sports edition of the Apple Watch. Reports suggest that if the feature launches this year, it would come to the standard Apple Watch 8 or the rugged Apple Watch.

It was previously reported that the iPhone 14 series will offer satellite connectivity so users can send emergency text messages to services even when they are out of network range. Moreover, last year, Gurman himself speculated that the iPhone 13 series would also come with satellite connectivity. Besides Gurman, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had also said that the iPhone 13 series might come with satellite connectivity, but both of these reports turned out to be wrong as the iPhone 13 was launched without any satellite connectivity.

The Apple Watch Series 8 is expected to come with a redesigned speaker grill and new features such as a body temperature monitor, a new processor, a blood pressure monitor, and a feature that will allow users to track their blood sugar. The Apple Watch Series 8 will launch alongside the iPhone 14 series later this year. Apple usually launches the new iPhone and Apple Watch in September and this year will be no different unless the COVID-19 pandemic gets worse again.
